All dogs of all breeds have some inherent risk of health conditions. For this reason I provide a health guarantee for issues that materially impact the quality of life of the dog.
The golden retriever breed has some health conditions it is especially prone to. I have had health testing done for these conditions. Many breeders do not test for all these. Below is a summary of the testing results. Details as well as family pedigree are available on K9Data. Links listed below.

· OFA Heart – Normal
· Pennhip – DI .4 (Average for breed is .5, so .4 is above average)
· OFA Elbows – 1/1 (Puppies may have slightly increased risk of elbow dysplasia. Elbow dysplasia is a complex condition with both genetic and environmental factors. It is essential that puppies are raised on flooring with good traction, are fed high quality dog food, and are not allowed to become overweight.)

Health Warranty:
· English Creamery Golden Retrievers attempts to prevent the passing of genetic disabilities or diseases through careful selection and health screening of their breeder dogs. Genetic testing information is available on link to k9data.com from English-creamery.comwebsite.
· Health warranty is for period of two years. Warranty covers identifiable genetic problems that breeder has been able to test for prior to breeding that will materially impact quality of life of the dog. Examples of such conditions are hip/elbow dysplasia and genetic eye or heart conditions. Seller will provide replacement puppy from next available litter. If dog was purchased with breeding rights and is found to have genetic problems, buyer agrees to spay/neuter the dog. Seller requires a letter from your veterinarian stating the health problem and permission to speak with the vet about your dog. We reserve the right to have the diagnosis verified by a vet of our choice.
o Hip and elbow dysplasia are not only genetic, but also dependent on the way the dog is raised. Top diet (4-5 star premium quality dog food as rated on dogfoodadvisor.com) and moderate exercise are key to ensure healthy joints and bones. Puppy toenails should be kept trimmed and puppy should spend most of its time on floor surfaces with adequate traction.
o Seller guarantees the puppy will pass OFA final hips at 24 months of age, with a Fair, Good or Excellent. Seller guarantees that puppy will have OFA final elbows with 0/0 grade, or with 1/1 grade and asymptomatic. All x-rays must be completed by 25 months of age. If dog is found to have hip or elbow dysplasia materially affecting dog’s quality of life, it can be returned as indicated above. No preliminary OFA results will be accepted. PennHip will be accepted between 1-2 years of age.
o Studies have shown that Golden Retrievers fed commercial grain free dog food are more prone to get a deadly disease called Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Since there is no way to prove what a buyer is feeding the dog, Dilated Cardiomyopathy is not covered under this health guarantee.
o Heart murmurs that are not life threatening are not covered under this guarantee.
o Things that would void this health guarantee include:
§ Owner allows dog to become obese before 24 months of age.
§ Any signs of neglect or abuse.
§ Injuries that occur while under care of Owner, like trauma or broken bones.
§ If dog is not examined within 3 business days from adoption.
§ No receipts of proof of 4-5 star non grain free dog food.
§ No proof of diagnosis.
§ Ownership of dog changes.
§ Dog is bred without breeding rights or before health clearances are obtained.
§ Seller does not sell to large kennels (10 or more intact dogs). If it is found that seller has been misled, health guarantee is null and void.
· Buyer will have puppy examined by veterinarian within 3 business days of receipt of dog. If at that time any genetic problems or undetected diseases are found, buyer may return puppy for full refund (with signed letter from veterinarian on official vet letterhead).
· Seller does not guarantee that puppy will be free of parasites at time of adoption.
